Creative Play Residency (CPR) is a vibrant and intentional community based in Hoi An, Vietnam. We believe that living cooperatively in a supportive and joyful environment provides each of us with the safety and inspiration to live creatively from the inside out. Here, we hold each other accountable for art-making – by sharing our crafts, meals and meaningful conversations.

October 1 – 15, 2025
A 2-week gathering in Hoi An to exploring arts and improvisation. This focused group encourages collaborations between residents, with a full program of improvisation arts and somatic movement practices. There will be a group showcase at the end, and opportunities to connect with the local artists.
Self-paced Stay
Year-round acceptance
Our self-paced residency offers the quiet space and time for your personal research or project. You will work autonomously, with an option of having accountability partners. There will be 1-2 group sessions or peer assessment per week.

Our community is beautifully diverse, embracing different nationalities, ages, genders, experiences, and creative modalities. Each of us is unique, yet we share a common bond—the human experience and a passionate desire for creative play.

Cultivating an atmosphere where everyone feels accepted, both physically and emotionally. We do this by agreeing on boundaries, deep listening and non-violence communication, to name a few.
Guidance & Autonomy
Providing a balanced structure and supportive environment for both personal growth and group exploration. There are weekly group activities and the semi-structured personal time for work.

We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.
We are looking for curious, open, likeminded spirits who rejoice in co-creating and co-living at the art space. Aspiring artists, writers, dancers, film makers, photographers, chefs… of all levels and mediums are welcome. We are particularly interested in projects that explore the interconnection between human, community and ecology.
The residency is a communal space. Therefore, we ask that each resident care for our home by sharing their gifts and time to nurture the space. Cooking, gardening, maintaining order, cleaning up, trash segregation… are part of of the daily life here. Our residences aims for zero single-use plastics and we segregate our trash.
Staying here
We think of CPR as a “funky experience”. Ever-evolving. Ever-shaped by the hands of those who are here. In other words, we are in the process of “discovering the funkiness” of this space. We did not choose a spotlessly new villa, but one with imperfect, with nooks and crannies, where we could adjust to our needs and sprinkle our own playful taste. As it will be an intentional co-living community, we hope you will feel comfortable to add your own artistic touch. But surely, you are in for a treat: bright airy studios, a comfortable room with your own desk, a swimming pool and a rooftop for sunrise, sunset and moon gazing. All within this unique riverfront villa. Upon successful registration, a room will be assigned to you on a first come, first serve basis.
